DDartists (Jobs for Developmental Disabilities) Art Exhibition: Into the world through the Art

April 28, 2021 @ 10:00 am - April 30, 2021 @ 5:00 pm

GiveChances invites you to celebrate the talents of artists with developmental disabilities, expressing and communicating through art!

We hope the beautiful artworks of the DDartists, Sharon Choi, Eunson Ham, Albert Kim, and Alexander Kim, provide delightful and restorative experience to you.
What is DDartists?
DDartists is a project of Give Chances that provides people with developmental disabilities
the opportunity for employment and talent development. DDartists hires, pays, and
provides educational opportunities for these individuals in a safe and caring environment.
We focus on harnessing the artistics creations, talents, and creativities of the disabled
community to create merchandise, such as planners, calendars, holiday cards, and toys. The
opportunity of employment and talent development allows them to develop their talents
and make meaningful and lasting contributions to our society.
How we started:
Work is essential for an independent life as it provides not only financial resources, but also a
sense of self-fulfillment as a member of society. As a result, people feel more connected to
others and become a contributing member of the community through their work.
In today’s society, about 3% of the American population, around nine million people, are
registered as living with developmental disabilities. Furthermore, a meager 14.7 percent of
individuals with developmental disabilities are employed in the job market.
To fix this disparity, our organization has been identifying and granting job opportunities for
those with developmental disabilities. Everyone is born with unique talents and potentials, so
does people with developmental disabilities. We started to pay attention to those who have
interests and talents in art. We found a possibility to use their artistic talents and developed a
work-education model for people with developmental disabilities.
